Amber is a Graduate IT Analyst at Hydro Tasmania and a recent Master of Information Technology and Systems graduate from the University of Tasmania, majoring in Artificial Intelligence & Data Intelligence, where she earned a place on the Roll of Excellence. During her master’s degree, she received the Dean's Summer Research Scholarship to work on AI applications in education, conducting research on natural language processing approaches for student evaluation analysis. She also served as an ICT Academic Tutor at UTAS School of ICT, teaching undergraduate units. Her contributions to the field were recently recognised when she received the 2024 ICT Student of the Year award from TasICT.
Amber is passionate about supporting students and recent graduates in their early careers through mentoring and public speaking. She has presented at various career events, including Study Tasmania's International Student Employability Workshop 2024, where she shared practical career advice and job opportunities. Through these events, she helps students improve their job application materials and develop skills to stand out in the recruitment process.

Bob graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D in Biology in 1992. Bob also has degrees in Teaching and Computing. Bob started teaching in 2011 as a high school maths/science teacher. Being part of the Tasmanian committee for Robocup Jr. lead to him being invited to take over Smartbots, the Gifted Online robotics and coding course he teaches with his colleague David Titherly. As part of the Smartbots program he visits about 12 schools weekly. Bob’s speciality is “… the improvisational teaching of robotics and coding as theatre for parents and teachers…”. Bob encourages his students to say, “I have been thinking…..”. Bob is a member of the local makerspace ‘Hobart Hackerspace”, informally leading their youth activities.

David has extensively utilised Micro:bit’s in his student projects, leading teams to represent Tasmania in National Awards through the Young ICT Explorers program. David is a delivery teacher for Gifted Online within DECYP, where he teaches Game Design using Arcade Makecode. In 2022 David was recognised as Tasmanian STEM Primary Teacher of the Year in the Tasmanian STEM Excellence Awards. David's dedication to education and his innovative approach to teaching have made significant impacts on his students, preparing them for future challenges in the digital world.

Lynn Warneke is a Board Chair and Non-Executive Director of public-sector, ASX-listed and not-for-profit companies. Prior to her non-executive career, Lynn was most recently the interim COO for a FinTech start-up, COO/CIO for the Department of Premier & Cabinet Victoria where she was awarded #7 in the CIO50 list of Australia’s most innovative CIOs, and Deputy Chief Digital Officer at Deakin University. She has extensive expertise in leadership and governance of AI and emerging technologies, digital and data strategy, innovation, workplace and customer transformations, and cyber security. Her industry experience spans consulting, government, utilities, social services, education and retail/wholesale, as well as the technology and start-up sectors. An ACS member for 10 years, Lynn has held various elected official roles and currently serves on the ACS National AI Ethics Committee. She is a Fellow of the ACS and the Governance Institute of Australia, a GAICD, and has a Master of Laws with a specialisation in New Technologies Law from the Australian National University.
Lynn spent most summers as a child with her Tasmanian grandparents in Claremont, and remains a regular visitor to Hobart and the north west region where she has close family.

She has worked extensively as an actor and writer in the TV, film, stage, and radio industries for over 20 years, delivering keynotes, speaking on panels and MCing events regularly across the world. She co-hosts and helps produce the Eureka Prize winning STEMM podcast That's What I Call Science, appears in the ABC Radio show Science Club and she solo hosts a live-streamed science communication show on Twitch TV and YouTube weekly to teach people about science fundamentals through conversation and video gaming. Content creation is Meredith's calling, she creates dynamic online content that appeals to all ages and vocations, pioneering the term 'Conversational SciComm' in these online spaces as people learn without being 'lectured to'. Having performed SciComm shows to audiences from PAX Conventions to the ABC and having been named a 2025 Science & Technology Australia Superstar of STEM, Meredith is bringing her message that "Technology is the way of the future and it's our duty to be good designers" to a world that needs positive role models and compassionate leaders.

At DSS, Tristan is developing and implementing a whole of government digital workforce capability development strategy and action plan aimed at empowering the Tasmanian State Service digital workforce to make evidence-based decisions on digital workforce planning, capability development and career pathways and talent pipelines.
This passion is also reflected in Tristan’s professional volunteering work as a board member on the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Professional Standards Committee, Tasmanian Strategic Advisor (formerly Chapter Lead) for Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) and leader of the Tassie Women in Innovation and Tech network focused on providing a safe and supportive space that champions innovation and development. As a first-generation migrant to Tasmania in the 1980s, Bruno has first-hand experience of the broad variety of benefits that Tasmania has to offer for people who choose to invest in our state.

Hau Duc Tran is an IT professional and a current Master's student in Information Technology Systems at the University of Tasmania. Hau Duc has worked on a wide range of projects, from software development and game development to data engineering. His interest in modern internet infrastructures has led him to specialize in cybersecurity.
Throughout his career, Hau Duc has collaborated with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient IT solutions and has contributed to successful projects in industrial manufacturing and data science. His academic pursuits have further honed his technical expertise while allowing him to stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field.
As a session chair for this conference, Hau Duc is eager to foster engaging discussions and ensure the smooth flow of presentations. He looks forward to bringing his technical knowledge and organizational skills to the event, helping to facilitate an enriching experience for all attendees.

Iola Fleming

Iola is a year twelve student at Hobart College, she has been doing various forms of coding since she was nine years old. She’s done more NCSS challenges than one cares to count, and in 2024 attended the National Computer Science Summer School, where a lot of coding and not much sleep occurred! She also enjoys debating, reading, maths and musical theatre, and can often be found either reading, singing, or doing both at the same time! Iola is also currently studying university computer science at the University of Tasmania - alongside a normal year twelve course-load. She is incredibly excited to a part of the EdCAT program, and, particularly as someone who grew up in the world of computers, the discussion of how we can effectively implement computing in other areas into the future.

Stuart Hollingsworth, Executive Director, Economy and Jobs Strategy, Tasmanian Department of State Growth
Stuart led the establishment of Jobs Tasmania and the Regional Jobs Hub Network in Tasmania and is now responsible for the delivery of the State’s first Youth Jobs Strategy.
Stuart previously held previous roles across Australian, Tasmanian and Victorian governments in a range of economic and social policy areas including community development, local government, planning and has worked on national health, education and tax reform. In between these roles Stuart ran a small business of his own but public policy development and implementation is his passion.

Troy Anning

With over 20 years’ experience in education and business, Troy Anning is currently the Education Manager for Digital and Business at TasTAFE. He has played a key role in managing and expanding ICT course offerings, including the Cert IV in Cyber Security, Cert III, Cert IV and Diploma of Information Technology.
In his role at TasTAFE, Troy has been instrumental in helping students transition from education to employment. His extensive background in student support and career development has enabled him to guide many individuals towards successful careers in the ICT industry.
Under Troy's leadership, the Cyber Security and Diploma courses have become flagship programs at TasTAFE, attracting a diverse range of students and industry partnerships. His dedication to continuous improvement and innovation ensures that TasTAFE remains at the forefront of ICT education.

Tyson Weinker

Tyson Wienker holds the dual role of Executive Director Digital & Emerging Technology as well as Head of School, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the University of Tasmania. In his capacity as Executive Director Digital and Emerging Technology, Tyson is responsible for implementation of capability programs such as Generative AI for the University, digital literacy standards and promoting digitally innovative pedagogical practices alongside emerging technology. As Head of School ICT, he is responsible for developing and delivering the School’s strategy, annual plan, people plan, and budget. Tyson also sits on the boards of Dreamlab Technologies AG (a Swiss cybersecurity company) and the Tasmania University Student Association (TUSA).
Prior to joining the University, Tyson was the Managing Director of LexisNexis Greater China and North Asia from 2014 to 2019, responsible for leading all areas of the >AUD$70m business and developing strategies to expand the adoption of online and digital information-based services and solutions. He was also Chairman of LexisNexis Japan.
Tyson had been with LexisNexis from 2007, working in the Sydney, New York, London and Hong Kong offices in various executive roles before taking over as Managing Director for Greater China and North Asia. Prior to joining LexisNexis, Tyson worked with the Australian Defence Industry from 2004 – 2007, responsible for the delivery of a number multi-million dollar import deals for the Australian Defence Force. Tyson had served 10 years as an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy specialising in Navigation and Intelligence prior to joining defence industry.
